‘Heartbeat’ by Emilija Secures Second Place at Supernova 2025

The Latvian national selection for Eurovision, Supernova 2025, delivered an intense and unforgettable final — and for us as a publisher, it came with a proud milestone. The song “Heartbeat”, performed by Emilija Bērziņa, claimed an impressive second place, and was co-written and produced by our very own Niels Sakko during our writing camp, Writers Off The Block.

A Homegrown Hit with Global Reach

Heartbeat was born during the Writers Off The Block camp, a collaborative initiative we host together with a team of international producers and writers. In this session, Niels worked alongside UK artist Kaiya Campbell and Emilija herself to craft a song that blends emotional depth with a modern pop sensibility.

Lyrically, the song explores the theme of letting go of the past and reconnecting with one's inner voice — a powerful message that clearly resonated with the Supernova audience.

A Tight Race to the Top

The Supernova 2025 final was one of the closest in recent years, with Heartbeat tying for first place on points alongside entries from Tautumeitas and Citi Zēni. The ultimate decision came down to the public vote, where Heartbeat landed just shy of victory, garnering 56,577 votes, narrowly behind Tautumeitas’ 61,028.

A Moment of Pride

This result is a major achievement for Niels and a testament to what can come from fostering international collaboration and creativity. It shows that Dutch writers and producers are not just participating in the global music scene — they’re competing at the highest level.

We’re incredibly proud of Niels’ work on Heartbeat and thrilled to see a song created at Writers Off The Block reach such heights. It’s yet another example of how our camps continue to serve as a launchpad for internationally recognized music.

Congratulations to Niels, Emilija, and the entire creative team behind Heartbeat. We can’t wait to see what comes next.

Stay tuned to our channels for more music, writing camps, and exciting collaborations ahead.
